This isn't about one football game.
It isn't about one team.
And it definitely isn't about being against competition.
I love competing.

In fact, our club has won the season for the last six years in a row.
But what I'm most proud of isn't the trophies.

It's that we're known for our culture.
We've had opposition teams message us after games to thank us for the way we played. To thank us for our kindness, humility and sportsmanship.

To me, that's what winning should look like.

Because competition isn't the enemy.

Losing our character is.

Working in mental health, I've learned that people rarely break because of one huge moment.

It's usually hundreds of tiny ones.
The comments.
The humiliation.
The feeling of not belonging.

The moments that slowly chip away at someone's confidence.
Our young people are always watching us.
Not just how we win...

But who we become while we're trying to win.
I don't have all the answers, and I'm certainly not pretending I'm perfect.

But I do believe we can compete fiercely without being cruel.
We can push each other without tearing each other down.
And I think that's the kind of culture worth building.
