The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Indian Affairs has opened applications for $2.4 million in Tribal Tourism Grants, giving Tribal Nations new opportunities to expand cultural tourism and strengthen local economies.

The FY 2026 Tribal Tourism Grant Program will award 10 competitive grants ranging from $200,000 to $300,000 to federally recognized Tribes and eligible Tribal organizations. The program focuses on expanding existing Tribal tourism initiatives rather than creating new tourism businesses.
The initiative supports the Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience (NATIVE) Act, which promotes Indigenous tourism while encouraging Tribes to share their own histories, cultures, and traditions with visitors.

Importantly, applicants do not need matching funds, making the grants more accessible to Tribal communities of different sizes.

Applications are open through August 7, 2026, with selected projects receiving funding for a 24-month implementation period.

Tourist traffic is great and we are meeting alot of people from around the world!🌎 The last customers were from 🌍Tanzania and bought all our pottery and baskets. If we bought your artwork, most likely it is going to Africa! 👈🤩Wow! We'll be back out to buy more and restock our inventory again from you soon! We've forwarded some of your contact numbers to the buyers so they can buy from you the Artist direct.

👀👉Handmade Jewelry, Painting and Pottery sales are up. Tourist are buying more traditional items. Tourist items such as mugs, water bottles, stickers sales are steady with not very much increase. Tourist demand has been more for traditional arts and crafts and jewelry. Tourist have been looking for paintings and lots of pottery. They want artist names and trade marks for the authenticity factor. So far so good! The Tourist market remains strong here at the trading post in Old Town. Hope all have been doing well in your markets and selling lots! Support Native Arts & Crafts and the markets as well!
