I found this friendly little kitty in the Village Park across from the post office around 9:00 last night. He was really sad and meowing pitifully. Not feral. Hope he belongs to someone in town. Please reach out if you know . Approx. 8 weeks old.. Please share if you are in Bishop Hill. Thanks! Also, he may be looking for a home if we can't find his owner.😉

THIS DAY IN BISHOP HILL HISTORY

June 25, 1961
Bakery-Brewery is demolished. The building was in poor condition, a 20-foot section of the west wall having collapsed “some time ago.” The demolition was ordered by the village board, after title had been transferred. “’A few years ago the state would have taken it over when they added the church to the state parks system,’ Mr. [Charles] Johnson explained, adding that the state would have accepted any building donated to the park system. The picture now is changed by budget problems.” Swank complains that “Rockefeller millions were poured into Williamsburg, but so far no one with even half a million has come to Bishop Hill’s aid.”

Friends, It's been a busy & productive Spring full of change! I retired from my job after working in the 'green industry' for the last 20 years. I spent 14 years working at Meyer Landscape & Design in Moline and 6 years at Sunnyfield Greenhouse & Garden Center in Galva. I was lucky to have jobs that I really loved! 💚 Actually though, I've been working with plants since I was 17 years old so that would be over 50 years! The ability to fully focus on the shop in Bishop Hill is quite exciting! First we'll finish planting 80+ flats of flowers and lots of seeds! Next, we plan to develop more gardens/display space in the barnyard. We will have more consistent shop hours soon. I'll be posting an update! 🌼🙂🌼
