What better day to spend the afternoon scouting a video location for craig.alan.frank’s song, “Bogged Down (in America)” dropping July 4?
Not only did it mean digging around some really cool old trains with our favorite fellow anti-Trump business owner, we stumbled across another cache of final-run North and South shore enamel-on-metal posters in one of the warehouses! While the envelopes are sure dusty, the contents are pristine. Check with the shop for sizes…and stay tuned, we’re seeking some community collab on the video

Putting the brick in brick-and-mortar, Rockstars! If you, like us, weren’t lucky enough to make Will Quam’s recent book release at Chicago’s Dreihaus Museum, here’s a chance to catch him locally! Join us in-store next Thursday, June 18th, at 6 p.m. as Quam—architecture photographer, writer, researcher and most importantly, a lover of bricks—chats about his book, “Fire & Clay- How Bricks Reveal the Hidden History of Chicago.”

As the dust settles from this weekend’s art fair, we’ve discovered (much to our chagrin) a number of gorgeous enamel-on-metal, all-weather artworks never even made it to display. Fortunately, South Shore Market is letting us hang onto them for a bit.
If you missed the fest, pop by the shop to check out our (much smaller) collection of licensed reproductions of vintage artwork, commissioned roughly 100 years ago to promote the North and South Shore electric train lines. Sadly, these beauties have been tariffed out of existence—as the cost of metal has skyrocketed, the company is now considering a shift to paper. In the meantime, what we’ve got we’ve got, and when they are gone…we will be happy to have found homes for this awesomeness

Save the date, Rockstars—Sunday, June 28 from 2-5 p.m. we’ll be collaborating with bestofbehavior and Homewood Izaak Walton Preserve for the first-ever, “Paws in Preserve,” a nature-based, animal-centric event bringing together local rescues, shelters, veterinarians, behavior consultants, and dog walkers/groomers with pet-minded businesses and vendors.

Set within the beautiful outdoor environment of Izaak Walton Forest Preserve, 1100 Ridge Rd., this free event invites guests to explore the preserve itself while fostering community connections through interactive experiences including educational demonstrations, yoga fun and animal engagement.
