It is Passover and Easter this week. I love the holidays, not so much for the religious part. I did not grow up with that side of it but the culture of getting together around a table with people I love and eating together is priceless.

Many of us live far away from each other and holidays bring us together.

And what is more joyful than cooking and sharing food?

Our customer and good friend Michelle always responds to an order she gets with, “Thank you for helping me dress for success.” It stayed with me. I wondered what dressing for success means to me, especially during difficult times or when I feel down and things are out of my control. I noticed that putting on pants and a jacket makes me feel stronger. A bit more grounded. It helps me meet the day with focused intention and clarity. On the other hand, dresses make me feel feminine and softer.

Dressing for success isn’t about perfection, but rather about presence. It’s choosing how I want to feel and then stepping into it.

Seeing you all at the various market weeks and at Coterie was quite inspiring. I’m amazed by your hard work! The long hours on your feet, staying active and vibrant, many of you more seasoned and in better shape than me and all while loving what you do.

Your passion for work and your customers, without any thought of slowing down or retiring, is incredibly motivating. It’s such a wonderful reminder of how healthy and rewarding it is to stay busy when you genuinely enjoy what you do.

This year, more than ever, I hear people say they were happy they couldn't make it home for Thanksgiving. It is complicated to gather with people we love when we are still angry at their political views, things they posted on social media or what they said on the phone last week.

My tolerance is at an all-time low over certain statements and thoughts I cannot agree with. Now more than ever.
After a year of change and challenge, it is understandable.

Maybe what we actually need most is a Thanksgiving spent with those we care about most, even if we don't agree, and leave room for kindness, warmth and a hug.
So this Thursday, I am going to dress up and make a point to hug everyone a little bit tighter.

For those of us celebrating the Jewish New Year today, Rosh Hashanah, make sure to eat something sweet today. Tradition reminds us to begin with something sweet so that the year ahead will be sweet as well, may that sweetness touch every part of our lives.

As we step into this new year, I wish for us all the strength to accept where we are in the world, the courage to face what is difficult, and the resilience to never lose hope for brighter, kinder days ahead.
