My name is Kellie and with my husband, James, we own and operate Campbell’s Canoe Livery on the South Branch of the AuSable river in Roscommon, a tiny town in northern Michigan.

The South Branch of the Au Sable is a great place to cool off during this heat wave. The water is a refreshing 74°F to 77°F and offers plenty of shade while you paddle or float!

Northern Michigan does not typically see temperatures get this high THIS frequently. Stay hydrated with plenty of electrolytes in addition to your water intake which helps replace minerals lost through sweating.

Good Monday morning to everyone.

We have a very hot few days ahead of us, with temperatures back into the 90s with heat index readings (what the body feels when combined with humidity) in the low 100s. There are extreme heat warnings for the U.P. and excessive heat advisories for northern lower Michigan.

There aren't any advisories in southern lower Michigan due to temperatures being a degree or two below the criteria, but it will still be hot nonetheless. Make sure to drink plenty of water if you're outside, keep sunscreen handy, and find a shady spot or two! Make sure to check up on the elderly and vulnerable that you know, along with your pets!
