We’ve got new (!!!) projects coming. So many. But I can’t tell youuuuuu yet.
So for now, here’s a throw back to a quilt of yesteryear.

I made this quilt after having a baby. I don’t remember if it was #3 or #4. (That’s why my hair was so thick - post baby but pre-shedding.) I made this quilt because I was exhausted and desperate for something that was creative and something that was just mine.

I have no memory of finishing this quilt. Not one single clue who this went to. (If it’s you, let me know! 😂)

But when I see these pictures I am proud of myself. I knew I needed creating. And I made time for it, even in the thick of exhaustion. It was the only way I’d keep myself myself. Good job younger me with that very lush hair.

I hope you’re making time to create, too, even if you’re in the thick of it.

I’ve got a whole floor full of started and/or partially finished projects. It’s one of those seasons where I have to remember that they *will* get finished eventually. To help remember that, I have to look back at completed quilts periodically. So here are some from this past year. Which is your fave?

Also: do you have works-in-progress? If so, don’t get discouraged! Do what you can a little bit at a time. They’ll get done eventually!

This pattern is called “All the Colors, All the Shapes,” and it’s everything I love about quilting.

Quilting is both whimsy and order, both form and function. It provides freedom for creativity within the bounds of geometry. It’s delayed gratification with a big payoff at the end when you get to see it in its fullness. It’s texture and feel and sound and calm.
