What started as a fun “project” for Minnesota-Grown illustrator, Nathan DeVaughn (DeVo) soon became the brand DeVoCustoms. After painting a garment, posting it on Instagram and seeing a wave of engagement. DeVo had the idea to turn it into a brand powered by passion for everything art and business. With zero experience starting a business DeVo jumped in head first and always held premium product a

t the forefront of his strategy. 70+ hand painted Jackets, Flannels, and Hoodies later, his work has been found in the hands of clients from Georgia to Germany. DeVo prides himself on his versatility with the paint brush, equipped to tell whatever story the customer might have. The painting is fun, but his real mission lies in unleashing the creativity in everyone. DeVo empowers his customers to come up with their own concepts and ideas and DeVo merely executes on their garment of choice. The brand stands for the people who have an urge to create or a passion for entrepreneurship. The story of DeVoCustoms hopefully pushes those budding creatives to take that step. Volume IX, ‘The Pivot’

Lucky enough to say I’ve been running my brand Devocustoms for 9 years. Every year I write a book to journal the significant points of the year that moved the business positively or even negatively. This year’s book is subtitled ‘The Pivot’. I didn’t start devocustoms to be rich, but that doesn’t mean I’m not about my business… Year 8 was most worst year financially since starting the brand in 2016. The signs were clear I had to switch something up. Volume IX outlines how and why I picked up my watercolors and started . I share my experiences live painting at events all over Oregon and more! I’m hoping this book inspires at least 1 creative/entrepreneur to pivot or give more context to stay the course.
